MONDAY, 17 MAY, 2021
7PM DOHA/12PM EST
Join Charlotte Cotton, Tasweer’s Artistic Director and photographer and podcaster Juliana Sohn for their conversation about Juliana’s photographic and writing projects that focus upon human rites of passage, motherhood, and the Climate Movement, and her co-founding and co-hosting of K-Pod - a podcast series dedicated to the stories of Korean Americans in arts and culture.
ABOUT JULIANA SOHN: AND K-POD:
Juliana Sohn is a photographer who documents how we live our lives, recording cultural events and social phenomena from a personal perspective. Her work ranges from very intimate portraits of her children sleeping to observations on environments and members of unique communities. Collaboration plays an important role in Sohn’s work; she often incorporates interviews into her process, giving her subjects a voice and allowing their words to accompany their images. Sohn has honed her skills as an editor and expert storyteller from her many years working in journalism. Since 2018 she has co-hosted and produced K-Pod, a podcast for the nonprofit organization Korean American Story, where she interviews Korean Americans shaping arts and culture. Both K-Pod and Korean American Story endeavor to preserve the stories of the Korean American experience.
